What is Health People?

We are a locally owned home health care agency, providing quality in-home care to seniors in King (Bellevue, Redmond, Seattle), Snohomish, and Pierce counties. Our services range from daily companionship to weekly bath visits to 24-hour, live-in health care. All services are delivered by licensed caregivers, whom we carefully screen via our stringent 9-step hiring process.

We specialize in companionship and personal care for aging and elderly clients, such as bathing, eating, dressing, meal preparation, etc. Many of our clients have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or cancer. We also provide short-term care for clients in a post-operative situation and aides for hospice care.

Because we offer customized nursing care – not simply a home companion – our caregivers’ skills go well beyond those offered by home care agencies. Our registered nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and registered nurses (RNs) provide health care services that home care agencies aren’t allowed to provide. We administer medication, assist with injections, transfer non-ambulatory clients from bed to chair, provide wound/ostomy care, and more.

How quickly can you set up home care for me or my parent?

You can call us anytime, 24×7. During off hours, one of our staff members will answer the phone. He or she can schedule an in-home assessment or gather your basic information at that time. We can have a nurse available within hours and select a caregiver for your case.

Because health care needs don’t always occur during regular office hours, our phone line is staffed 24×7 by our knowledgeable team – not an answering service. If you have an immediate need, please call us at (425) 454-1947 or complete our Request Care form.

What are your hiring criteria for caregivers?

Only the top 10 of all caregivers who apply to Health People are hired. We put all candidates through a stringent 9-step hiring process, which includes multiple in-depth interviews, national criminal background check, verification of certification/licensure, written exam, and a complete skills assessment. In addition to tangible skills, we seek caregivers who exemplify compassion, competence, and character. Our caregivers earn their position at Health People!

How does your service work?

First, we carefully assess each client’s specific care needs. Typically, we meet in the client’s home. All our cases are opened by a registered nurse, who creates a care plan. We then assign a qualified caregiver to provide the needed services. Our caregivers complete timesheets, and we invoice you for the hours worked.

How much does your service cost?

Our rates are determined at the time of your individual assessment. Each client has different needs, and your rate is specific to the type and amount of care we will provide to meet those needs. Feel free to call us; you can speak to one of our representatives and request a bill rate range, based on the basic information you provide.

The bill rate, the hourly rate we charge you for services, is determined when we open your case and is based on the level of care the client needs. We will bill this rate for every hour our caregiver provides care. There are no additional charges, taxes, or fees. We will send you an itemized bill every two weeks. You may elect to pay by check or credit card. If you have verified insurance coverage, we will submit your invoices directly to your insurance company on your behalf.

Are your caregivers insured?

Yes, all Health People caregivers are bonded and insured. In addition, we ensure all caregivers are appropriately licensed with the state of Washington. We pay for all required payroll taxes, insurance, workman’s compensation, and state and federal unemployment taxes. (Review our 9-step hiring process to learn how we make sure each caregiver is appropriately skilled and licensed.)

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No, you do not sign a contract. As part of our assessment, you will be asked to sign a Client Services Agreement, authorizing Health People to provide home care services and stating that you agree to pay for those services. You will also need to sign the caregiver’s weekly timecard, approving the hours worked. At any time, you can cancel your Client Services Agreement with a 24-hour notice.
