The Story
of Health People
"I will not go to a Nursing
home and I don't trust strangers in my Home!"
A common dilemma faced by more than one quarter of the households in
America. Many of us face this issue with our own parents or loved ones.
When Sandy Jeghers', (co-founder of Health People), elderly mother began
having hip problems, he became concerned. Although she now required
assistance, she did not wish to leave her home. Wanting the very best for
his mother, Sandy began the arduous process of information gathering,
interviewing and evaluating local home health agencies. Even with his health
care background, experience and connections in the industry, he found it to
be a frustrating personal experience trying to find quality home health
personnel with excellent skills and good character.
Given this experience, Sandy began an extensive research process with home
health experts, caregivers and community focus groups. It became apparent
that there was a need for a professionally managed organization to provide
high quality home health services with a strong emphasis on outstanding
customer service and high integrity caregivers.
In 1996 Sandy Jeghers co-founded Health People with long-time friend David
Martin. Sandy has 25 years of senior health care management experience,
including 12 years as President and CEO of Overlake Hospital Medical Center
in Bellevue, Washington. Co-founder David Martin has over 20 years
experience in both the staffing and recruitment industry, including the
founding of two major Seattle staffing companies.
Health People received its state license as a home health agency in 1997,
providing private duty hourly or live-in services to clients. Health People
continues to grow in its ability to recruit the finest professionals in the
Home Health field. The company has become one of the fastest growing private
companies in the Puget Sound Region.
